Players currently enjoying StarCraft 2 might have to take a bit of a break from the game as Blizzard has revealed that the current beta will end on May 31 with a second round planned before the full game's July 27 release.

A Blizzard representative posted in the official StarCraft 2 Beta forums that the upcoming real-time strategy game's first pre-release play period would be concluding on May 31 across all territories. The poster revealed that the reason for the downtime was to "make some hardware and software configuration changes in preparation for the final phase of the beta test and the release of the game."

The PC's StarCraft 2 began in mid-February, while Mac gamers were introduced to the title at the end of April. The game is set to launch on both platforms on July 27.
