First the UK-based Information Commissioner's Office investigates Sony's PSN security breach. Now Canada's getting involved too.

Canada's Privacy Commissioner Investigating PSN Breach

Following on from the news that the UK's Information Commissioner Office is investigating Sony's handling of customer data following the PSN security breach, the office of Canada's Privacy Commissioner has announced that it, too, will be investigating Sony's security provisions for PSN.

Jennifer Stoddart, the current Privacy Commissioner of Canada, is heading up the investigation. Stoddart said that Sony had not notified her office of the security breach, though there was no legal requirement for them to do so in this case.

"We are currently looking into this matter and are seeking information from Sony," Valerie Lawton, a spokesperson for the Privacy Commissioner's office, told Canada.com. "We will determine next steps once we have a full understanding of the incident."
