Students frequently mock their teachers on Facebook, but one teacher is being investigated for allegedly mocking a student that way.

Seven-year-old Ukailya Lofton had Jolly Rancher candies affixed to the end of her braids on picture day at Chicago’s Overton Elementary School. Her computer teacher snapped a photo and uploaded it to Facebook, ABC News reported.

The girl found out about the Facebook upload from her mother, Lucinda Williams. Apparently the teacher hadn’t told Ukailya the photo was going up on the social network.

Williams copied all of the comments accompanying the photo uploaded to Facebook. The teacher had written, “right, this is for picture day.” Responses included:

“If you are going to make your child look ridiculous, the least you can do is have them matching.”
    “Yeah, this is foolishness.”
“I laughed so hard that my contact popped out.”

The mother spoke to Overton’s principal about the matter and received an apology from the teacher. Williams believes the school should have suspended the teacher, and has hired an attorney. The two plan to file a lawsuit against Chicago Public Schools tomorrow and will hold press conference to formally announce their suit.

Readers, what do you think about this particular case.
