Pet Society Valentine Fish: Last chance to catch them all Posted: 14 Feb 2010 10:00 AM PST The time to catch Pet Society's special Valentine's Day fish is ticking away. To catch these 15 fish, head to the cash store and buy the special Valentine's bait (3 PF cash each) and use the fruit from the special V-day tree in the Garden store and get fishing. These lovely swimmers will only be around until "the 14th of February GMT." Here's the entire list of V-day fish, courtesy of Pet Society fan Ner8kl, : Rosefish Ringfish Cupidfish Eel in Love Romantic jellyfish Bridefish Candyfish Cookiefish Groomfish Kissfish Lovely octopus Dove fish Fish in love Giftfish Bearfish The image above also includes two new special types of V-day junk, a pink diamond and a heart locket, which some PSers have picked up using ears of corn and other 'normal' food items. Have you caught all of the V-day fish yet? |
FarmVille Unwither Ring: The worst thing to happen to virtual farming? Posted: 14 Feb 2010 09:00 AM PST This Valentine's Day, FarmVille is offering a special Unwither Ring, which will keep the ring-bearer's crops from withering -- forever. The ring costs 250 FarmVille dollars, which roughly translates to $42. I'll be the first to admit that I've been coveting one of these magical rings, to the point that I actually considered making a dummy Facebook account so I can gift myself one (the rings can only be gifted from someone else). Then again, the idea of crops that never wither seems to take away the driving force behind this farming simulation game. The threat of withering plants is what keeps players engaged and coming back for more on a daily basis. Take that away, and FarmVille the game, turns into FarmVille, the Facebook rural fantasy app. So, like Frodo Baggins, I'm resisting the ring in order to keep the 'farm' in FarmVille. |
PetVille gives away V-Day decor for fans only Posted: 14 Feb 2010 07:00 AM PST PetVille wishes fans a Happy Valentine's Day with a special wall decoration for your pet's home. If you're already a fan, all you need to do is clink on this link, and then look for the trinket (see pic on right) in the game's storage box. Open the box, drag the decor into the room and place it on the wall. If you're not a fan of PetVille, you'll have to become one before claiming this gift. To do so, visit the PetVille Facebook fan page, and click the button that says ' Become A Fan.' Then click this link, or the same link on the fan page, and look for the gift in your storage box. Looks like membership has its privileges, eh? |
Restaurant City rings in Chinese New Year with lucky packets Posted: 14 Feb 2010 01:30 AM PST Log into Restaurant City, and you'll be greeted with a 'lucky Red Packet' stuffed with coins -- 888 coins, in fact. So what's the significance of all this? Aside from celebrating the Chinese New Year, Restaurant City fan etmarkliu explains more for those who aren't in the know. "The lucky money from RC means a lot to Chinese people! Let me explain some interesting facts about the Lucky Packet (Red Envelope). The Chinese character, 福, means "good fortune" and the number, 888, pronounced "fa fa fa" in Chinese means "become rich"! Considering that cash can be difficult to keep in Restaurant City -- especially since ingredients, etc cost several thousand coins each -- we're happy to have a small windfall blow our way. |

Mafia Wars New York property upgrade gives and takes away Posted: 14 Feb 2010 12:30 AM PST We were promised a property upgrade in Mafia Wars New York, and it has arrived. Aside from a complete graphical overhaul, the rules to owning properties have undergone big changes, some of which will likely have virtual mafiosos up in arms. There are no more undeveloped properties and Zynga "took the liberty" to sell these properties and deposit the cash into your New York account. Property can no longer be sold, either -- just upgraded. There's also a restriction on when and how players will be able to buy new properties. As players make "more money, additional properties will become available for purchase," according to official Mafia Wars Facebook page. On the positive side, the new properties area looks much slicker, and it's easier to keep tabs on and collect income from each of the buildings. There's also a new option to upgrade buildings in exchange for cash. We can't tell if the upgrade increases the upkeep for each of these buildings as well, so we suggest playing conservative until further notice. There's also a new map area -- which looks similar to the properties map in Playfish's Gangster Wars -- which is marked as 'coming soon.' There's no word whether this will be just another way to keep track of properties or a way to buy new properties. We'll see when this feature -- along with robbing -- rolls out in the near-ish future. What do you think about the new rules for Mafia Wars properties? |
