Tiki Resort: Start your own island menagerie with baby seals, other new pets Posted: 20 Feb 2010 09:00 PM PST Tiki Island introduces pets into the in-game store and as free giftables. In the store, you can purchase a Red Crab for 150 shells and a Baby Turtle for 300 shells. In the gifts area, you can send friends a Hermit Crab, Pretty Pelican, Baby Seal and Cute Piglet for free, and then beg them to send one back to you. Once these animals are placed on the island, a hand icon will occasionally appear over them, which means you need to click on the animal to give them love and attention. In return, you're rewarded with shells, which can be used to buy buildings, accessories and more pets! Tourists love nothing more than an adorable baby seal -- amirite?

File under WTF: Nearly naked women appear in FarmVille [Updated] Posted: 20 Feb 2010 11:00 AM PST FarmVille glitches -- sometimes we love 'em and sometimes we don't. A new glitch, however, mostly leaves us speechless. Get this -- one player discovered pictures of scantily clad women in place of photos for certain crops in the in-game market. The whole scenario was so unbelievable that 'Dustin' created a video showing off to these salacious pics, which have replaced pics of strawberries, pumpkins and mystery boxes. The video is blurry, but it also looks like It also looks like some kind of Simpsons still that says 'Moe's' appeared instead of the Baby Tiger picture. We immediately opened our FarmVille game to see if there were any, uh, misplaced pictures, and everything looked normal -- just like another day on the farm. That means that this guy somehow stumbled across a rare glitch and heads are gonna roll at Zynga HQ, or this enterprising farmer went to great lengths to digitally enhance his strawberries with a little T&A. [Update] One reader, ijalgila, says (s)he might have an explanation for this glitch, "I had this type of glitch before with Zynga games, it was Mafia Wars on Tagged, it look like the game fetches the wrong pictures from the user temporary internet files cache, and display those pictures instead of intended ones... oops.. better clean those cache files now." If that's the case, guess we know how Dustin spends his time when he's not playing FarmVille. [Via FarmVille Freak] Make the call: Do you think this video is real or fake?

Happy Pets unveils two mystery boxes, one contains 'rare' items Posted: 20 Feb 2010 10:00 AM PST There's a whole lots of mysterious gifts, bags and boxes showing up in all of our Facebook games lately -- each bearing gifts from the banal to the ultra-rare collectible. Happy Pets is also adding a little mystery to the game -- with two kinds of mystery boxes -- one can be purchased for coins and the other for Facebook credits. The standard mystery gift costs 50 coins and takes 24 hours to open. In the meantime, you can ask friends to click on your mystery box "to increase your luck" by posting a message on your Facebook wall. We've just bought our first mystery box and will be patiently waiting for the next 24 hours to zoom by so we can see what's inside. The premium mystery gift costs 12 Facebook credits (roughly $1) and contains "rare and exclusive items." Unlike the mystery box you can buy for coins, it opens instantaneously. That's right -- you pay the price, but now you get the added bonus of instant gratification. What was in your mystery box? Send a pic of your findings to libe@games.com and we'll post it here!

FarmVille Chicken Coop Expansion arrives -- at last Posted: 20 Feb 2010 04:00 AM PST The Chicken Coop expansion has finally made it's way to FarmVille on 02.18.10! Having more Chickens will increase the opportunities of finding Mystery Eggs!Chicken Coop Expansion will work similarly to the Barn Raising or Storage Expansion method. You can post a Facebook notification asking your neighbors for help via a good ole fashioned Barn Raising for your Chicken Coop or you can purchase the upgrade in the Market. With the help of your FarmVille neighbors you can increase the capacity of your Chicken Coop from 20 Chickens to 40 Chickens called the "Big Coop" and from 40 to 60 Chickens maximum capacity called the "Huge Coop". You will need the help of 10 friends for each star level of expansion and will have 3 days to complete this expansion.

FarmVille's chicken coop glitch returns ... for now Posted: 20 Feb 2010 03:00 AM PST Recent updates in FarmVille are triggering various technical issues including out of sync errors and new Chicken Coop glitches that are allowing mutliple coops. Zynga is aware of these issues and currently working on a solution to them. Here is the official statement from Zynga spokeswoman Lexilicious: "Hey Farmers, We are currently aware of the various technical issues related to the 2/19 release. The FarmVille Team is working as hard as they can to get these problems resolved in a timely manner. We will update the community accordingly as more information becomes available to us. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time. We would like to sincerely apologize for any inconvenience these issues may have caused you. Update: Two of the major issues being cause by this release involve the new Chicken Coop Expansion. Here's what to do if you are experiencing one of the following: * Recieving A Extra Chicken Coop - After expanding your initial Chicken Coop, you may receive an extra Coop from a Mystery Egg. DO NOT attempt to place this coop, as it will result in an Out of Sync error. Simply sell it from your Giftbox. * Getting the 100 Capacity Maximum Message When Expanding Chicken Coop - Your storage building maximum does not count toward your Chicken Coop expansion. You can expand your Chicken Coop as normal. As more information becomes available to us, we'll update the community accordingly. Pet Society debuts eco-friendly clothes for pets Posted: 20 Feb 2010 02:30 AM PST Pet Society is jumping on the 'green' bandwagon, by introducing a new line of Eco Wear for pets. Tres chic, no? Here's the kicker -- not all of the fashions pictured here will make it to the final game. Playfish is asking fans to vote on which fashions they like the most, and the winners will be featured in the game. We're partial to the LOL-worthy Tin Can boots, but at the time of this post, the Takeout Box Hat and Duck Swim Ring top are the top two choices, with the Newspaper Bow & Top in a close third. If you want to have a say in this new eco-wear fashion line for pets, head over to the official Pet Society forums and place your vote.

FarmVille makes leveling up easier?! Posted: 20 Feb 2010 02:00 AM PST Some FarmVille Freaks like Candita and Nico are receiving FarmVille pop-up notices stating that they have received a level up based on the newly adjusted level requirements. The adjusted level requirements are making it easier to achieve leveling up with the amount of XP being lowered. This seems to be an isolated upgrade for now, as many farmers including myself have not experienced this. It's possible that in the future Zynga will expand the upgrade to affect all farmers and not just the test group. What do you think about Zynga changing the requirements for Leveling up? Cafe World spice racks arrive: Find out what to do next Posted: 20 Feb 2010 12:00 AM PST Look like things are going to get a little tastier in Cafe World, courtesy of a brand new spice rack, which was announced earlier this week. The Cafe World spice rack works much like the FarmVille horse stable or the Mafia Wars chop shop, you must ask friends for parts to build your rack. To complete the rack, you'll need five of the following: shelves, small jars, medium jars, large jars and lids. These items can only be acquired as gifts from friends, so be sure to sent parts to friends, and ask for them to send some back to you. You know -- scratch their spice rack, and they'll scratch yours back. Once the rack is complete, you'll earn five Cafe Cash, which is a 'W00t'-worthy bonus. Here's the bad news -- the racks don't do anything other than hang on the wall and look pretty. Before you decide to march on Zynga with meat cleavers in hand, it seems like there will be added spice rack functionality down the line. If you look closely in the spice rack's pop-up window below -- there's a note that says exotic spices 'coming soon.' Look like we'll have to wait and see just how 'exotic' these new ingredients will be, and what that means for our cafe menu.
