The Social Network won only three out of the eight awards it had been nominated for.

Aaron Sorkin won best adapted screenplay, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross won best soundtrack and Angus Wall and Kirk Baxter won best film editing.

The Social Network didn’t score on its nominations for direction, actor, supporting actor, sound editing nor best picture.

One interpretation of the three wins and five losses: Hollywood has rejected the power of social media. And now that the awards ceremony has finished this way, presumably Facebook publicists might face fewer questions about how management feels about the movie, effectively bringing their message to fruition — the company officially doesn’t like to comment on the film nor otherwise indulge people who want to rewrite history.

What’s your opinion about how The Social Network fared at the Oscars — were you surprised?
