In light of today's editorial, we put the question out to our Twitter followers--which games are too long and betray their value? Check out what our community had to say.
In light of Tae Kim's opinion piece on game length posted earlier in the day, we wanted to gauge the general gaming's populace on titles that are too long for their own good. Here's the question we posed:

A handful of respondents refute the claim that a game can be too long, particularly when it comes to role-playing games or titles with deep multiplayer. Here's the folks that aren't fans of time limits:
@GamePro Games today are too short. It's mostly focused on multiplayer now. I'd rather a game be too long than too shortless than a minute ago via twidroid

@GamePro never played a game that's too long I like lengthy games as long as they are good, spent 80 hours on fallout 3. No regrets.less than a minute ago via Twitter for BlackBerry®Sebastian Select

@GamePro SHORTER? Games need to be longer. Shooters can be short, sure. But not good games like RPGs and the like. Urgh.less than a minute ago via web

Then there are the folks who think otherwise, calling out a handful of games of padding out titles with repetitious settings or slow-burn gameplay. RPGs were the chief offenders, with two games leading the pack:
@GamePro Final Fantasy XIII killed me. When don't finish the tutorial until 10 hours in, you know you're in for a loooooong ride.less than a minute ago via web

@GamePro Final Fantasy XIII. It was essentially a 20-25 hour tutorial until the meat of the game was playable. That makes it work, not fun.less than a minute ago via Echofon

The Fantasys and Fallouts of the gaming world weren't the only targets of criticism. Here's the best of the rest of the complaints:
@GamePro I loved Okami, but after you beat [REDACTED SPOILER], the game should have ended. The rest had nothing to do with the first half of the story.less than a minute ago via web

Our winner for the top Tweet of the day is originsparhawk, who noticed that a game doesn't even need repetitive gameplay to be overlong. For his observation (and funny analogy), he will win swag from us as long as he sends a response to GamePro on Twitter before the publication of the next "Tell us how you really feel." Here's hawk's cry:
@GamePro MGS4. Seriously, that game drops 45min cut scenes like a rapper drops F-bombs.less than a minute ago via Twitter for iPhone

While video game are an extremely price form of entertainment, they also provide an unprecedented amount of interactivity. While a two-hour campaign may be a bit on the short side, a 6-to-8 hour adventure that never lets up represents (in some ways) a better value than a game that drags on for a few dozen hours. Time is money, and its value works both ways.
