While Cyber Monday is a big day for online retailers, it appears as though Facebook isn’t yet the primary source for finding out about cyber monday deals.

Yesterday we posted a poll asking users, “Are you using Facebook to find Cyber Monday deals?” The results, which are posted below, showed that approximately a quarter of users turned to Facebook for finding deals. Almost 38 percent however weren’t shopping online and the remainder didn’t use Facebook as their primary resource for finding deals. Given that only a couple hundred people voted in our poll, there’s no doubt that our results are not the most scientific ones.

Perhaps it’s actually somewhat impressive that a quarter of people used Facebook for finding deals. We should have asked another poll for those users to see where they found deals, through friends or pages. One thing is clear: while Facebook isn’t the primary source for online shopping information, it’s playing an increasingly important roll in the world of e-commerce. That increasing role may explain why the Facebook e-commerce platform, Payvment, was able to raise $6 million.
