The Writer's Guild of America revealed the nominees for its award in game writing, picking what they thought to be the five most well-written games of 2010. With that in mind, we polled our Twitter followers to see what was snubbed.

Earlier today, the Writer's Guild of America announced the five games that will be competing for a Writer's Guild Award next month--Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, Fallout: New Vegas, God of War III, Singularity, and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II. We asked our near-24,000 Twitter followers to chime in on the picks with the following question:

One of the year's most expansive adventures got the snub, and plenty of our Twitter community were there to call out the WGA on its absence. Here's the redemption for the overlooked game:

@GamePro I'm sure tons will say this, but where the eff is Red Dead Redemption? And how did God of War III get on there instead?less than a minute ago via webAlexander Scott

@GamePro I wouldn't pick it to win, but I'm amazed that RDR isn't on that list while Star Wars is.less than a minute ago via TwitterrificBritton Peele

On the other side of the coin, one game was repeatedly called out as an undeserving nominee. With another game in the same genre getting snubbed, the force was not with this game:

@GamePro I can't believe Force Unleashed II, a game that breaks its own canon, got the nod over ME2, the best sci-fi story of the decade.less than a minute ago via webJosh Isom

@GamePro Was Mass Effect 2 not eligible for a WGA award? I'm pretty sure its story is better than the Force Unleashed 2.less than a minute ago via BeezzDonald Conrad

Finally, we highlight a game we would have expected to be a shoe-in, giving the fact that the game is centered around a writer and his supernatural adventures. Guess the judging committee doesn't like to go meta:

While the WGA nominees aren't perfect, the association did pick a few well-written games for next month's award. Given the fact that this is only the fourth year that the award is being given to video game scribes, it's safe to say that the picks aren't half bad for an award still going through growing pains.
