Double Fine has had great success amongst critics with its two retail releases for consoles -- Psychonauts and Brutal Legend. Unfortunately for the developer, the two titles haven't performed as well at retail, which may have put the company on a different path for its next release. 1UP recently received the first look at Costume Quest, Double Fine's first downloadable game. Published by THQ, the game will land on the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade this Halloween -- October 31, 2010.
According to the preview, Costume Quest will shift between a cutesy overworld featuring trick-or-treating kids embarking on neighborhood quests to a more traditional RPG battle system where the kids' costumes manifest into giant warriors. The preview also states that additional DLC for the game may be in the works.
