Included in today’s list are bands covering multiple genres of music, a page to get you geared up for the Super Bowl, and even a popular Australian food spread. They’ve all seen an excellent increase in fans over the past week, and it is likely that pattern will continue in the coming weeks. Check it out below.

Here’s an example use case. Applifier’s bar is essentially a line of ads, in which developers trade views on a one to one basis. With retargeting, you can make a user that has already clicked through your ad once see a different message — instead of “Try our game!”, it can be “Come back!” Regular players can see yet another message.
Retargeting won’t help developers get new users, but it will help them improve retention for existing players, according to Jussi Laakonen, the CEO of Applifier. Some users use the Applifier bar almost like a navigation toolbar, instead of returning to the front page to click through Facebook’s built-in bookmarks.
Applifier is working on more features beyond retargeting, Laakonen says; it’s just one of the first to launch. The company has good reason to try to differentiate itself. Since launching last May, the company has gained two strong competitors, in the form of Tapjoy’s AppStrip and Digital Chocolate’s VIP Games Network.
There are arguments for each network. One of Applifier’s has stayed the same since its launch: it’s independent, and untainted by big developers. AppStrip, as we pointed out early this month, has benefited from selling substantial traffic on its network to Zynga for CityVille, while Digital Chocolate gives a pure 1:1 exchange (Applifier takes 10 percent of traffic for its own revenue) but, presumably, uses the data from the network for internal purposes.
All the competitors will find fertile ground for expansion, says Laakonen, but he’s sticking by his model. “As a publisher, the best company to work with is not just the one that has the largest reach, but one that has your best interests in mind,” he says. “We’re data neutral — if you’re a publisher on Applifier you don’t know where your traffic is coming from. We want to make sure people don’t get competitive info.”

Of the 75 sex offenders charged in the state last year, eight were caught maintaining accounts on Facebook and MySpace. Two of those men, Christian Martin Johnson and Lester Gerard Packingham, hired lawyers to challenge the law.
Johnson’s lawyer said that the regulation does not just keep a sex offender from engaging in obscene speech with a minor — it prohibits all speech “however innocent,” according to the News Observer.
Packingham’s lawyer said the law keeps her client from communicating with friends and promoting his business on the social network.
There are other ways registered sex offenders can communicate, like by mail or telephone, said North Carolina’s Lieutenant Governor Walter Dalton, who sponsored the law as a state senator. “When you are deemed to be a sexual predator, sometimes you do not have the full rights of every citizen out there,” he told the newspaper.
From what I could tell, every state has a different law for sex offenders and social media, but according to Facebook’s terms terms, all convicted sex offenders are barred from the social networking site.

Xbox 360 1056 days in the top 100 PlayStation 3(744)The latest scam circulating on Facebook touts a Niki Minaj sex tape that doesn’t exist. Clicking through exposes you to malware and spam, and completing the survey makes a commission for the spammer while you get nothing in return.
The posts about the nonexistent sex tape include a message in all capital letters with poor punctuation. Clicking on the link takes you to a page that asks you to click on a share button, which puts three posts on your wall while making it look like you’re only putting one up.
The survey begins with a request for your contact information, followed by an ironic set of questions about which of the seven deadly sins you succumb to the most.
After you complete them, the application promises to tell you which of the seven only after you’ve looked at about a dozen different marketing promotions that all ask you for more information. I clicked “skip” on all of them, and that’s probably why I was eventually told that my sin is “sloth” — the furthest thing from what I’m really like in real life.
