The Federal Bureau of Investigation issued an alert about fraudulent emails and websites claiming to be collecting donations for Hurricane Irene relief efforts.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s National Weather Service National Hurricane Center continued to update the progress of the storm.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency offered an explanation of severe weather terminology.
Officials including New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, and Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell urged caution and provided details on where citizens in their respective areas can turn for information and assistance.
