Microsoft is deepening the integration of Docs with Facebook. The software giant announced two changes to Docs today, one of which will make it easier to find documents created by your Facebook friends.
The other change involved adding keyword tagging functionality to make it easier to organize your own work on Docs.
A Microsoft statement said: “No matter where you are on docs.com, you can now search for people, pages and tags. If you’re familiar with how search works on Facebook, search on Docs.com should be simple and intuitive. If you’re looking for docs authored by a specific friend or Facebook page, simply type the name and select the correct suggestion. If you’re looking for docs about a specific subject, type the subject and select the appropriate tag. This will show you all docs tagged with that subject.”
Microsoft Docs was one of the launch partners for Facebook’s Instant Personalization. The software giant bought a 1.6% stake in Facebook for $240 million in 2007.
Docs is not really something I’ve used that much but from what I know the whole point is to be able to “discover, create and share” documents with your Facebook friends. I imagine that today’s changes would improve the functionality quite a bit. Being able to create a document was always a given but these changes should improve the discovery and sharing parts of the equation.
