Eclectic game designer Suda 51's and Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami's new game highlights the string of announcements from EA's Tokyo Game Show Showcase event -- Shadows of the Damned for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2011.
A pyschological action-thriller from Suda 51's Grasshopper Manufacture, Shadows of the Damned focuses on Garcia Hotspur, who Suda 51 said through a translator finds his true love abducted by demons and goes to hell to rescue her.
"And, of course, this psychologial action-thriller -- what makes this game different is the involvement of Suda-san here. The game has a punk-rock edge to it. You can see Suda-san's trademark flair and style everywhere in this game," Mikami said through a translator as the livestream of the event showed Garcia holding a shotgun with a skull below the muzzle.
Silent Hill Sound Director Akira Yamoaka is providing the game's music.
In trademark Suda 51 form, he delivered an over-the-top performance, emphasizing the game's name in English and trailing of with "Damned...Damned...Damned" each time he uttered the title and saying when you abbreviate the game, don't use "SOTD" -- use "DMD."
