Hey you -- do you want to watch movies, but not enough to justify an $8 monthly charge from Netflix? Or maybe you just don't like the idea of giving your money to The Ministry of Plenty Netflix, or something? Well, Sony's got an... unconventional assortment of movies to stream for as low as $0.99 a pop, starting now.

Your PS3 Can Now Rent Movies On the Cheap

Reintroducing a rental plan first offered back in 2008, Sony's announced that PS3 patrons can now choose from a selection of discounted movie rentals. The movies, which can be viewed in SD for $0.99 and in HD for $1.99, will be updated every Tuesday, and may or may not share this week's "grab-bag" tone:

August 16 - 22:
Sicko
The Longshots
Salvage
Tony
Shank
Bonded By Blood
JFK: Reckless Youth (Part 1)
JFK: Reckless Youth (Part 2)
Deadly Blessing
Carver
Devil in the Flesh 2 (aka Teacher's Pet 2)
Illuminating Angels & Demons

So there you go. Anyone who wants Michael Moore to harangue them about health care, or is dying to skim through that TV movie where Patrick Dempsey played John F. Kennedy, needs to do nothing more than boot up their PS3. But seriously though, this is a pretty cool feature that we're glad to see back in action, and we're hoping the list of cheap rentals continues to grow as the service is supported.
