Spike has revealed the dozens of nominees for its annual Video Game Awards show planned for next month. We polled our Twitter community to find out which games were robbed of a shot to snag an award next month.
After Spike revealed the official list of VGA nominees this morning, we put the following question out to our near-22000 Twitter followers:
Spike's revealed the VGA noms. What do you think are some missed nominees? Best replies posted, one wins swag: http://bit.ly/9qKYilless than a minute ago via TweetDeckGamePro

The most prevalent complaint seemed to spawn from the fact that downloadable games were separated into two categories. While it allowed the pack to be split between publisher-driven downloadable games and indie games, it caused a lot of confusion amongst the community. Here's the download-focused complaints, including a remark from frequent GamePro contributor McKinley Noble:
@GamePro Wait, this must be a mistake. Why don't I see LIMBO as a nominee for Best Downloadable Game?less than a minute ago via TweetDeckMcKinley Noble

The retail-focused awards weren't immune from complaint, though. A few responders took issue with the choices for the bigger awards. Here's what they had to say:
@GamePro I'm surprised No More Heroes 2 didn't get a best Wii game nomination. Then I remembered that the judges probably didn't play it.less than a minute ago via webg. egret

While we don't mean to demean the Video Game Awards, our choice for the top reply of the day goes to GreedyRaven, who provides context for the awards within Spike's show while also pointing out that the VGAs aren't the show in town. Gongrats, Raven--please send a DM to GamePro on Twitter to claim your swag. Here's Raven's tweet:
@GamePro I'm more excited for the game reveals then the actual awards. The GDC awards mean more to me then the VGAs.less than a minute ago via TrillianRoss Polly

While the industry does indeed pay attention to the Spike Video Game Awards, the show does have an uphill battle to win over the hearts of the hardcore community. The show-runners have made great strides in recent years by making it the top destination for trailer debuts, but there's still room to improve in making the awards themselves mean something.
What do you think of the suggestions above? Are there any other nominees that you think were robbed? Please continue the conversation by responding in the comment section below or by replying to GamePro on Twitter.
