Konami's announcement of X-Men Arcade for Xbox Live and PlayStation Network has created a strong level of excitement amongst gamers, proving there's still life in resurrecting classic games. We asked our Twitter followers what other games they'd like to see revived on current download platforms.
Here's the question posed to followers of GamePro on Twitter, spurned by the return of X-Men Arcade announced at New York Comic Con:
Konami has plans for an X-Men Arcade XBLA & PSN rerelease. What other classic arcade games need PS3/360 love? Best replies will be posted.less than a minute ago via webGamePro

While the variety of games was pretty wide, one game seemed to garner the most love amongst fans. The Simpsons Arcade Game -- another Konami coin-op from the early 90s -- still holds a place in the hearts of many old-school gamers. Hopefully Konami will be able to work the same copyright magic that allowed X-Men to come to pass on the now EA-owned Simpsons game franchise. Here's the fans that want to play with America's Favorite Family on current consoles:

While there are a few games that have just seemingly fallen through the cracks, a common thread throughout the requests were for licenced games that have since moved onto new IP holders. It may take a bit more elbow grease, but modern releases for games like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, X-Men Arcade, and NBA Jam have proven that if the fans clamor enough for re-release, companies will seek out the proper rights and sometimes work together to make money off of them.
What do you think of the games mentioned above? Are there any more that you'd care to add? Please continue the conversation by commenting below or by replying to GamePro on Twitter.
